Places and Check-InsUpdated 2026-03-06

Places, QR Entry, and Place Chat

How place pages work, what QR entry does, and how active presence affects check-ins and access to place chat.

What place pages do

Place pages connect public venue information with creator activity.

A place page can show:

  • posts connected to that venue,
  • people currently associated with that place,
  • shareable QR entry,
  • place chat when you are actively checked in.

QR entry flow

The short QR route is designed to get someone from a physical venue into the relevant place page quickly.

The important user-facing behavior is:

  • the QR short link resolves the place,
  • anonymous visitors can be pushed through onboarding,
  • the app can continue them into the place experience after sign-in,
  • the app avoids pretending that a redirect alone equals a real check-in.

Check in here behavior

In the current product, active place presence is anchored to your featured profile workspace rather than an arbitrary post.

That means a place check-in is really about updating your active professional presence at that venue. This is why the feature can feel different from a generic social check-in product.

Place chat access

Place chat is intentionally tied to active place presence.

From an end-user perspective, this means:

  • being physically or actively checked in matters,
  • chat is time-bounded rather than permanent,
  • the conversation is meant to stay relevant to the venue and the current window of activity.

People at this place

The "People at this place" view helps users discover who currently has an active relevant presence there, especially through featured profile workspaces.

Use it as a discovery aid, not as a guaranteed live roster of everyone nearby.
